Can the restaurants handle any kind of food allergy or food intolerance?
All the restaurants of our platform have been trained so they can cater any food allergy or food intolerance. However, if you have a very specific and unusual allergy or intolerance you can contact us directly via phone (93 119 00 71) or via email ([email protected]) and we'll help you to find the best restaurant.
How restaurants have been selected?
All the restaurants have been carefully selected for the quality of its service and the sensitivity they have to our problems. The selection is very specific. We are aware that not all the restaurants can cater our dietary needs so the selection has been very meticulously done.
Who is training the restaurants?
All the restaurants have received a course developed by doctors of the Catalan Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SCAIC) and an experienced chef. They have learned how to cater customers with food allergies and food intolerances so you can enjoy a meal without worrying about your health.
Does any patient/medical association support Allergychef?
Allergychef has various medical endorsements like the Catalan Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SCAIC) and patient organizations like Immunitas Vera. We are working openly with all the patient organizations interested in our project. We believe "The more the merrier".
How does the website works?
Allergychef is the first restaurant reservation network that allows you to find restaurants that cater your dietary needs and book a table to these restaurants. It is very simple: Once you decide the restaurant you want to go, you just have to select the date and the number of guests. If you are a registered user you have to enter your email and password and finish the reservation. If you are not a registered user, you have to fill out the reservation form and enter your food allergies or intolerances so we can send them directly to the restaurant. Once the reservation is completed, you will receive an email confirmation.
Is the information about my food allergies or food intolerances public?
All the information you provide us about your health condition is only shared with the restaurant when you make the online reservation. Once you've visited the restaurant, they must destroy the information so no one has it. Your health condition is totally confidential. The only information visible is your name and avatar.
Can I make a reservation without signing in?
Yes, it is not required to sign in to make a reservation. However, we recommend you to sign in so you won't have to enter all your information again. Once registered you can also manage your reservations and save your favorite restaurants to find them more easily.
Is it free?
Yes! Everything is free. We train restaurants at no extra cost so you can make reservations directly through our website. We only ask you to make the reservation through Allergychef because its the only way we can keep this website alive.
How far in advance I have to book?
We recommend you to book at least a day in advance so the restaurant can be well prepared and ready for your visit.
In which restaurants can I make a reservation?
You can make a reservation at any restaurant. There are a few restaurants that only accept allergic or intolerant people (not both) so double-check the restaurant information before booking a table.
Can I make a reservation even If I don't have any food allergy or intolerance?
Yes, of course. Although the website is designed for people with food allergies or intolerances, anyone can make a reservation.
If we are a large group how can we make a reservation?
We recommend you to contact us directly to make a reservation, since not all the restaurants have enough space to cater large groups. You can call us at +34 93 119 00 71 and we will help you to find the best restaurant.
How can I be sure that the restaurant will consider my reservation?
Every time you make a reservation we will send you an e-mail confirmation as soon as the restaurant accepts the reservation. Once you receive this e-mail you won't have to worry about anything else!
Do I have to print a booking confirmation?
You won't have to bring any printed confirmation to the restaurant. Once you arrive at the restaurant tell them you have made a reservation via Allergychef and identify the person who has the food allergies or intolerances (if there's any).
If I have any special requests how can I communicate them?
When making the online reservation, there is an entry specific for that called "Notes for the restaurant". If you prefer to talk to us via phone, you can call us anytime at +34 93 119 00 71 or send us an e-mail to [email protected]. We will gladly help you.
Why does the confirmation take so long?
It depends on the time when reservations are made and the restaurant schedule. Normally we confirm the reservation in less than 30 minutes.
I have not received any confirmation e-mail.
Have you checked the SPAM folder? Possibly the e-mail is there. If you don't want this to happen again, we recommend that you include this e-mail address: [email protected] mail to your contacts. If the e-mail is not in the SPAM folder call us at +34 93 119 00 71 and we'll help you.
What alternatives do I have if the restaurant doesn’t accept the reservation?
If the reservation is not accepted, we will contact you and help you to find another restaurant that suits you. Sometimes the restaurants are very busy and it’s impossible to accept the reservation but there are so many options out there!
How I can cancel a reservation?
If you are a registered user, log in to your account and cancel the reservation from there. If you are not a registered user, you can call us at +34 93 119 00 71. We recommend you to cancel the reservation at least two hours before the reservation time so we can notify the restaurant.
Can anyone review a restaurant?
Only the users who have visited the restaurants can post a comment. It's the only way we can ensure that the reviews are reliable.
How can I post a comment?
Once you have visited the restaurant, you will receive an e-mail with a link asking for your opinion. Through this link you will be able to leave a comment and help other users to choose a restaurant.
Why is my comment not posted?
Allergychef will post all comments except for those containing insults or rude words. All comments are considered and processed and if there is a negative one, we will contact to the restaurant and the user to see what happened and take action to solve any problems.
